World Poker Tour Deepstacks Deauville

Deauville is a beautiful place in the northwest part of France. It has everything you want to see in a travel destination. In fact, many rightfully consider it to be one of the best and classiest resorts in Europe.

This time around, it was home to one of the major poker tournaments in the world: WPTDeepStacks.

The 2018 WPTDeepStacks has already gone to some of the most prestigious locations in the world.

This year, the tournament has visited Hollywood, Tampa, Fresno, Brussels, Montreal, and many other famous gambling destinations. It was even held at some resorts in India, New Zealand, and Vietnam.

Regardless of location, this tour saw consistently large numbers of fans joining up and winning incredible rewards! For example, the Thunder Valley event even crushed the $500,000 guarantee on the first day, thanks to the incredible number of players that showed up. But what happened at the Deauville tournament?

Casino Barriere de Deauville

This tournament took place in the incredibly impressive Casino Barriere de Deauville. This casino is so beautiful that it stands out as one of the main tourist attractions of this wondrous French commune.

Details

World Poker Tour hosted this event from 4 to 9 December 2018. The Opener took place on Wednesday the 5th at 20:00h. The buy-in was 360+40 euros on the first day.

The Main Event, however, took place on Thursday the 6th at 16:00h. The buy-in for the main event was 1,100 + 100 euros. The same day, after the main event, the Survivor bracket started at 21:00h. The buy-in for this part was 140+30 euros.

Saturday, the 8th of December, has also seen several exciting events. Those events included the World Poker Tour DeepStacks High Roller tournaments (17:00h, buy-in: 1,800+200 euros) the Ladies event with a modest buy-in of 90+10 euros, and the Omaha Deepstack event with a 270+30 euro buy-in.

The last day of the event was Sunday, the 9th of December, and it featured the No-Limit Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament (NLH-3K Platinum) with a total buy-in of 3,000 euros. The same day also featured a bounty for eliminating a player!

Winners

In terms of the main event, 474 runners were responsible for increasing the prize pool to 500,544 euros. Three days later, after some thrilling poker action, Saul Berdugo from France finally brought home the bacon, becoming 98,000 euros richer after winning first place.

Berdugo’s previous and only win in tournaments was around 1,200 euros, so we can be sure he is feeling on top of the world after his big win! He also won the 2,000 euro ending package for the season.

The NHL Opener was won by Victor Goisset, who managed to beat 147 players and win 12,090 euros.

The other winners in the final table included Abdelhamid El Khayati who won €63,595 and  Joris Mahe who won €47,090.

Summary
