There are many different betting options in the game of roulette. And every new player who is only beginning his or her roulette playing adventure is eager to learn about the payouts, so they can find about what they can actually count on getting if they win. Equally, some experienced roulette players might even have developed and tested several betting strategies, while keeping the payout issue in mind the whole way through; after all, these are definitely the people who understand the importance of this for making a good betting decision!
The payout rate tells you what exactly you are going to obtain if your bet wins. For example, one number straight, or a single number bet, has a payout 0f 35:1. This means that if you wager $1 and your bet wins, you get your $1 back; plus $35 as a prize!
Different bets are tied to different payout rates. Here is the basic chart of the payouts you should keep in mind as place your bets at the roulette table.

*This bet is called “snake” because the numbers make up a “snakelike” pattern. The bet is available not at every casino.
As you can see, there is a huge difference in the payouts depending on the bet you make. But this difference is not a big problem; because it is well understood that the higher the payout is, the lower your chances will be of actually winning this bet. The real problem is that many players, the beginners, often confuse the payouts with the odds of winning. This confusion is quite misleading, and that is why we’re going to present you with another table below:

As you can see from the chart above, the difference between the payouts and actual odds of winning is enough to explain why, in the long run, the house win and the players lose!
