World Poker Tournament

The penultimate World Poker Tournament of the current year will take place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, with a guaranteed award of $2 million up for grabs!

The WPT Seminole Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open is one of the WPT tournaments that serves to mark the end of the year for poker players. It’s going to take place in Hollywood, Florida and this is actually the first time for this season! The $3,500 buy-in poker event will run from November 23 to 28, and the final table will be streamed live on WPT.com and Fox Sports Network.

It’s not unprecedented for a casino in Hollywood to play host to the World Poker Tournament – which is gaining popularity year by year – but it’s highly likely that the oncoming WPT will have one of the largest guaranteed prize pools the city has ever seen. But the award of $2 million is a fairly small one, in comparison to the other poker events set up by the WPT this season.

Entries will be charged a buy-in of $3,500, and this isn’t actually among the biggest charges this year; but it will still draw some serious semi-professional players to the event. The WPT Seminole Rock N Roll Poker Open shouldn’t be ignored by professionals either, as the chase for the “Player of the Year” is only just gaining momentum as of now. The current leaders are Tony Ruberto and Erkut Yilmaz, with 1,800 and 1,250 points respectively. Between the two of them, they have already shared winnings of around $1,1 million, purely from playing table games.

WPT Championship is a central tournament of a total of 19 events held at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Its opening falls on November 23, while the tournament itself will run until November 28, with each day starting at 12 PM EST. The final table will be live streamed on WPT.com and Fox Sports Network, starting at 12:30 PM EST.

The 2018-2019 WPT season supplied us with a rich feast of poker events; so far there have been as many as seven major poker tournaments hosted in various gambling-friendly parts of the USA. But not, however, Hollywood; until now! This city is becoming a big draw for poker pros, partly with the help of Hard Seminole Rock Hotel & Casino.

Tony Burns, Hard Rock’s Tournament Director stated “Year in and year out, the Rock and Roll Poker Open has been one of our best poker series. Never was this more apparent than in 2016; when the series-opening $360 buy-in, $1 Million Guarantee, drew more than 5,000 entries; making it the largest poker tournament in state history. That benchmark stands to this day, and we’re eager to get cards in the air for this year’s series which sees us partner with the World Poker Tour to bring the South Florida market a $3,500 buy-in, $2 Million Guarantee Championship.”

Although Tony Burns exhibits great excitement about the oncoming event, the outlook for even getting close to the benchmark is pretty bleak. This is because the seven tournaments held this season had 600 entries on average. The highest participation rate was 1,075 gamblers; this was at Borgata Poker Open in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
